Supported chart types

Each chart type animates differently and suits a different data shape.

Columns grow from a zero baseline. Compares categories side by side — sales by region, survey results, performance metrics.

Data: Label + value per row.

A line draws itself left to right, tracing a trend over time. Best when the trajectory matters as much as the endpoint.

Data: Date + value per time period. Multiple series supported.

Slices sweep in from the center, building the full circle segment by segment. Use for part-to-whole data with 3–6 categories.

Data: Label + value per slice.

Bars extend left to right — useful when category names are long or when comparing many items where vertical columns would be cramped.

Data: Label + value per row.

An animated grid where filled cells represent a percentage. A modern alternative to pie charts for proportional data.

Data: Single value (0–100) or multiple categories.

Nested rectangles sized by value. Shows relative scale across a hierarchy — portfolio breakdown, revenue by segment, file sizes.

Data: Label + value per item. Optional grouping column.

A single number that counts up from zero to its final value. Used to make a key metric feel earned in presentations or social posts.

Data: Single value. Optional prefix ($ £ €) or suffix (%, K, M).

A needle sweeps to a target value — used for KPI dashboards, goal progress, and performance scores.

Data: Single value with min/max range.

Shows conversion rates and drop-off at each stage. Sales pipelines, onboarding steps, marketing funnels.

Data: Stage name + value per row.

Shows how an initial value increases or decreases through a series of positive and negative changes to reach a final total.

Data: Label + value per step. Positive values add, negative values subtract.

Plots individual data points on an X/Y axis to reveal correlation, clustering, or outliers across two variables.

Data: X value + Y value per point. Optional label and size columns.

Horizontal bars animate and reorder as rankings change across time periods. One of the most shared chart formats on social media.

Data: Three columns: time period, category, value. One row per category per time period.

Multiple lines compete across time, with rankings shown alongside the chart as values change.

Data: Three columns: time period, category, value.

How to make an animated chart

  1. 1

    Import your data

Upload a CSV or Excel file, or paste directly from Google Sheets. AECharts parses the data automatically — no reformatting required. For most chart types a basic two-column spreadsheet is enough.

  2. 2

    Pick a template and customize

Choose a chart type and template. Adjust colors, fonts, title, subtitle, axis labels, and animation speed. Every element is editable. Brand Kit accounts apply your colors and font automatically.

  3. 3

    Export as MP4

Click export and download your animated chart as a 1080p MP4 at 60fps. Or export transparent WebM to overlay on video footage, or PNG for static image use.

Export formats

MP4

1080p · 60fps

Works on Instagram, TikTok, LinkedIn, YouTube, PowerPoint, Keynote, and Google Slides. The right default for most use cases.

WebM

Transparent background

Overlay the animated chart on existing video footage in Premiere, DaVinci Resolve, or Final Cut. No background — chart elements only.

PNG

Static image

Export a single frame for documents, reports, thumbnails, or any context where a static image is needed.

Where animated charts are used

Social media

LinkedIn, Instagram Reels, TikTok, YouTube Shorts. Export 9:16, 1:1, or 16:9 depending on the platform. Motion holds attention in feeds where static images are ignored.

Investor decks and board presentations

MRR charts, CAC vs LTV, P&L trends, portfolio performance — animated and exported as MP4, then embedded directly in PowerPoint or Keynote slides.

Video production

Export transparent WebM to composite chart animations over footage in your video editor. No green screen, no manual masking.

Newsletters

Email clients don't support video. Export a PNG of a key frame, embed it in the email, and link to a hosted version of the MP4.
